Preparing Paintwork Prior to Applying Harly Wax

Applying Harly Wax couldn’t be simpler..

However preparation is the key to a mirror-like finish, so it is recommended you follow this recommended cleaning procedure BEFORE applying Harly Wax.

To get the best results a 3 stage preparation is required prior to applying Harly Wax

Stage 1. Vehicle Washing

There are many types of car washing products available. If you have access to a pressure washer we would recommend a proprietary Traffic Film Remover (TFR). A good quality TFR removes grease and grime known as Traffic Film from the surface without the need to brush or sponge therefore minimising risk of scratching the paint surface.

We recommend AutoWash TFR Pre-Mix which is a Hyper Concentrate Traffic Film Remover. 1 Litre makes 25 litres of ready-to-use TFR.

Alternatively, clean the vehicle by hand with a Shampoo... There is a difference between ‘Shampoo’ and ‘Wash & Wax’. A good quality shampoo will not leave a film of wax, where as a Wash & Wax is designed to leave a coat of wax.

We recommend Mojo Car Spa which is a high concentrate Vehicle Shampoo which leaves no wax residue.

DRY THE VEHICLE USING EITHER A DRYING BLADE AND CHAMOIS LEATHER OR MICROFIBRE CLOTH.

Stage 2. Deep Cleaning

This stage is to remove any oxidisation or environment fall-out. There are various products available on the market for this. We would recommend Mojo Paint Cleaner. This product has fine cutting compound to remove microscopic dirt and grime from the finish.

Apply Mojo Paint Cleaner with a clean Microfibre Cloth and gently rub in. Turn over the cloth and buff away any residue.

Stage 3. Hard Polish Application

This stage is to create a hardened finish to minimise attack from environment and road grime back onto the paintwork.

We recommend Mojo Tuff Polish for this purpose.

Apply the Mojo Tuff Polish onto the surface with a Microfibre Cloth or Applicator Pad. Wipe away any excess and buff to a polished finish.

You can now apply Harly Wax...

Applying Harly Wax

Assuming you have prepared the vehicle as per the vehicle preparation page you can now apply Harly Wax.

1. Ensure the surface is clean and dry

2. Work out of direct sunlight - It is best to use Harly Wax on a cool even temperature surface

3. Use a VERY soft cloth for application - such as our recommended microfibre cloth. WARNING Coarse cloths can cause paint ‘swirl’.

4. Dip the cloth or application pad into the Harly Wax and apply evenly over a single panel section of your vehicle.

5. When you are satisfied the wax is spread evenly, let Harly Wax dry for a few minutes

6. Finally, buff the panel

7. Stand back and smile!

Repeat the process until your whole vehicle is done....
